I discovered Jadyn’s blog not too long after I started blogging, and I’m always finding new ways to look at interiors through her inspirations. I especially love her Roomology series, so I was excited when she agreed to do a twist on that for today’s post! Enjoy!

I am so glad to be here at Elembee, Etc. today! I am always inspired by Lisa’s beautiful layouts and she always picks such great images!

I have picked four rooms from my inspiration files to share with you today. Do you ever find yourself wondering how to re-create a similar feel in your home from photos you collect? Well, me too! I have learned that it is very helpful to look at specific elements in inspiration images to figure out what it is that speaks to you. This gives you a great starting point for setting out to create a similar look or feel in your own home.

Here are four things that stand out to me in the rooms I picked:

Colors

All three photos have light wall colors, this gives them a bright and airy look. With the exception of one of the rooms, they also have warm elements in them. I spy orange, yellow and red tones. This adds a coziness factor. Blue is a fairly prominent accent color, I spy blue sofas, a gorgeous blue window treatment and a collection of blue art.

Textures

The rooms have mostly smooth textures – the fabrics, the upholstery and low-pile rugs are all pretty smooth. Some subtle texture is added by the natural elements, like in the pottery, basket and wooden objects.

Materials

I see wooden flooring, tile flooring and large low-pile (probably woolen) rugs. Also, mostly natural-looking fabrics like cotton and linen and natural materials like leather, wood and pottery. The one room has a lucite coffee table that is pretty great and fits the style of that room well.

Accessories

Accessories really affect the feel of a room. If I went shopping for my home based on these inspiration images, I’d be on the look-out for books to use for stacking, some old and crusty pottery and/or a pretty blue and white pot, pillows with a modern graphic feel, an old trunk, sea grass baskets and a glass vase or object.

I came across Julia’s blog not too long ago, and I love her eye for style and really enjoyed her recent Leap of Faith series. So I was excited when she agreed to guest post on her current favorite patterns for the home! Enjoy!

Hi! Julia here from The Urban Slant. I was so delighted when Lisa asked me to guest post while she is getting fabulously tanned in Hawaii. I have a serious affinity for pattern, and thought I’d share my three favorite patterns right now.

1. Chevron

Even though this pattern is everywhere lately, I cannot get enough of it. I love how mod it is, yet how it can anchor an entire room. My favorite use of it is with thick black and white, and on delicate pieces like the bowl.

2. Ikat

This is such a versatile pattern that adds a warm bohemian vibe to any space. I have ikat pillows on my couch and love how they warm up the space. I would LOVE a throw like the one above. Don’t the colors just scream “take me to Morocco!”

3. Asuka

This is one of the newer patterns I’ve fallen in love with. The gold flower pattern is so chic and feminine that I know it will be in my future home. I’m thinking in the master bedroom, or in my boudoir (if I’m lucky enough to have one).
