I just started reading The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton for book club, so I had to find out a little more about one of the locations, a small port town in Queensland, Australia, called Maryborough. As it turns out, not only does it have some pretty fantastic architecture, but it also happens to be the birthplace of P.L. Travers, author of Mary Poppins! They have a statue of Mary Poppins in the town and celebrate a weeklong festival dedicated to her every year.
It’s been a crazy/busy/exciting couple of weeks preparing to leave my job, and I am so looking forward to the weekend! Celebration and relaxation are definitely in order, but I’m also looking forward to Monday and my first full day of self-employment. Happy weekend!

I loved the color combo in my St. Patrick’s Day post so much that I had to dedicate another post to it! It’s funny, these colors are not usually on my radar, but lately I just can’t get enough of them together. So perfect for spring!

Like most apartment dwellers, I rarely use overhead lighting. Something about well-placed lamps makes everything feel so much more cozy. I’ve developed quite an obsession with arc lamps, and while it may not be a good time for me to buy one now, you can bet I’m filing these images away for future inspiration. Not only do they give a space an extra touch of cozy, but I also love the way they add a little architectural interest. What do you think?
P.S. Totally filing away that oversized chair for the future, too. Hello, reading nook!
