Like most apartment dwellers, I rarely use overhead lighting. Something about well-placed lamps makes everything feel so much more cozy. I’ve developed quite an obsession with arc lamps, and while it may not be a good time for me to buy one now, you can bet I’m filing these images away for future inspiration. Not only do they give a space an extra touch of cozy, but I also love the way they add a little architectural interest. What do you think?
P.S. Totally filing away that oversized chair for the future, too. Hello, reading nook!

I can’t say I’ve ever seen arc lamps to buy in stores! But maybe I just haven’t been looking?
Yowza! Purple couch! And if I’m not mistaken, those tables in front of it are the $5 IKEA ones painted bright pink. So smart.
And yeah, I’d never get up from that chair. Nor the bed in the room behind it.
I saw those lamps and immediately saw my toddler attempting to bring them down.
Love that oversized chair too.
HA! Me too. I was just about to say, “I adore those lamps, and I would love to have one…after Harper goes to college.”
We actually have a big dipper lamp similar to the one you show from the Apartment Therapy photo. In fact, it might actually be that one! It’s from CB2 and it wasn’t too terrible priced. I love it—wonderful, soft, dimmable lighting!—and it really is a statement item for the living room.
I love that first photo! The idea of a reading nook with one of those lamps and an oversized chair sounds heavenly!
