Healthy Habits

Today is either the worst or best day to post about healthy habits, depending on how you look at it. So if you want to indulge in your Halloween treats guilt free this evening, feel free to come back to this post tomorrow!

I don’t know about you, but the busier I get, the easier it is to let the task at hand take priority over my personal health. Skipping one yoga class or picking up one takeout meal seems harmless enough, but when I have a lot going on, one thing can quickly turn into four and can eventually become an unhealthy habit.

So I want to know, what’s your healthy secret? How do you get back on track when those healthy habits just aren’t habit anymore?

Let's Chat

  1. Love this post! I think its important to indulge properly – as in, eat really cleanly beforehand. And while you are having a “cheat meal” make sure there is no guilt involved and really ENJOY your treat fully. Then, go back to healthy habits immediately after.

Also, understanding what your triggers are is really important. I tend to eat a lot more whenever I’m bored. Now that I’m aware of that I try to “fill up” on other activities like reading some of my favorite blogs or calling an old friend until the feeling passes!

I have been slacking on living healthy lately, and I tend to blame a lot of factors but my lazy self. :) I usually give myself permission to indulge, because I indulge moderately and then get back on my healthy path.

The secret for me I think is I do a lot of things to stay healthy by mixing up my exercise and trying new recipes regularly. And I think because I look at health from many aspects…it is easier for me to grow my good habits lil by lil in all areas.

I wrote about this the other day on my blog – bit.ly/ScZTeQ

I started a couple months ago with the goal of exercising for 5 minutes a day. My main aim was for consistency, to make it a habit. I’ve been going for two months now and I’m still really enjoying it! By setting the bar so low for myself at the beginning it was easy to do it, because no matter how busy I got, I knew that I could always spare at least 5 mins.

Now that I’ve kept it up for a couple months it’s easy for me to do longer and more comprehensive workouts, but if I’m ever feeling lazy then I let myself get by with 5 mins of something :) I figure something is better than nothing!

I have been totally slacking since the weather turned. I’m such a wimp about running in the cold and dark :( I do eat pretty healthily (basically a veggie monster… is that a thing?) but have to watch my sweet tooth, especially in the afternoons!

  5. My secret is habit and becoming a “regular.” Now when I don’t go to my spin class twice a week, my instructor asks me where I’ve been. It’s easier to go when I know that I’m expected! Group fitness has also been the key for me. I push myself much harder when I have an instructor pushing me and people around me pushing hard too.
