Thank you so much for filling out my reader survey! There were a lot of great ideas for post topics, and I’m excited to start addressing those! I also wanted to share a few things moving forward.
1. Posting frequency
As suspected, the majority of you don’t want to hear from me 5 days a week… which is totally fine with me. I’ve been having a little trouble keeping up with that lately anyway! So from now on, I’ll be posting Tuesday through Friday, with Monday posts when things aren’t so busy and I have extra to share. This week, I won’t be posting tomorrow as I’m getting ready for Palm Springs!
Some of you mentioned you’d like to see tutorials for platforms other than WordPress. Honestly? I’m not the person to help with that. I worked a little with Blogger in the beginning of my business, but I hated it and figured out quickly that I’d rather learn everything I can about WordPress than learn a little about each platform. I started on WordPress, and it’s second nature to me now. So while I will continue to write posts on WordPress, I’ll keep them to Thursdays only, so you know you can skip that day if you’re not interested in WordPress. Be sure to check out Code it Pretty for Blogger help!
3. Across the USA
As expected, a number of you are not fans of the Across the USA series, so I thought I’d share a little about where it came from. Up until the end of last year, my blog was pretty heavily focused on lifestyle content with travel being the Friday topic. It wasn’t until later this year that I started focusing more on sharing things I’ve learned through my business, so if you started reading during that time, I can understand how Across the USA can seem pretty random to you! By the time I started shifting the content of my blog, I already had bloggers committed to writing about each state, and I wanted to see the project through (and I love reading what everyone has to say each week!). So if you aren’t a fan of the series, it ends at the end of this year, at which time any travel posts will be focused on my own travel. And of course, they are always on Fridays, so you know you can skip that day if you’re not interested.
4. Subscribe by category or newsletter
Since some of you only want to read the blogging or business tips, I thought I would point out that you can actually subscribe by category in your feed reader — one of the cool things about WordPress! Just click on the Categories tab in the sidebar, then click on the category you’d like to subscribe to, then add “feed” to the end of the URL and add it to your reader. For example, you can subscribe to all Blogging posts at http://elembee.com/category/blogging/feed/.
You can also subscribe to my newsletter if you’d like to skip lifestyle posts — each Wednesday I send out the Blogkeeping post of the week in full with links and excerpts to other business and blogging posts.
Y’all seemed to like the idea of Q+A posts, and I received some questions to get started, so I created a new email address specifically for blog questions. Email email@example.com if there is anything you’d like to see answered on the blog! I’ve also created a page listing posts by category to make it easier to see if your question has already been answered.
Thanks again for your help! The survey is still open if you haven’t had a chance to fill it out and would like to.
