There are two important things to know when it comes to DIY projects for your home:
- Never turn down free wall art.
- Know when to ask for help.
I inherited this wall art from a family member that moved — obviously not my style, but they filled the space above my couch perfectly. After debating a few different options, I walked into a local home decorator fabric store and literally gasped when I saw this hexagon print. I’m sure you’re shocked.
My aunt suggested using batting to give it a little dimension, and I casually mentioned how fun it would be to work on it together. And by “casually mentioned,” I mean “begged her to help me.” She gets all the credit for this one — I just did as I was told.
It actually turned out to be pretty simple, but it was still a two-person project. We popped the art out of the frame, sprayed it down with spray glue, then attached batting and trimmed it to the edge. The two-person part came in with wrapping the piece in the fabric — she held the fabric where it needed to be to keep the pattern straight, and I taped it down. Then we popped it back into the frame!
Have you repurposed any of your wall art? What did you do?
P.S. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! See you again on Monday!

I love this! What a great idea. And how perfect for you!
That looks wonderful. I cannot wait to get my own place again so I can get to decorating.
It looks great! My walls are bare so I’m on the look out for pretty pieces. DIYing some wall art like this sounds perfect!
I’ve scanned illustrations from books and used them as art before but haven’t used fabric as wall art before. I love that idea, I have a lot of scrap fabric so I may try it in the future
Just gorgeous! Y’all did a great job!
Thank you!
